It starts with you.It stays with him.

As educators, you have the ability to positively influence the boys and young men you teach. Promoting gender equality and teaching the young boys in your school about healthy equal relationships helps you create healthier and safer schools and communities.
Teaching boys and young men how to achieve consent, set boundaries,
use respectful communication in all their relationships and
value women and girls is something we can all do.

Storyvalues Interactive, is the new Storyvalues online program licensed by the TDSB for the 2011-2012 school year.Attached, please find a flyer with the URL and log-in information for the TDSB Storyvalues Interactive website for use in schools. Please feel free to forward this flyer to staff. The program also has a component that is available for students to use at home.Shortly, we will be emailing a separate flyer with the Storyvalues-Home web address and login information as well, which can be printed and sent home to families. Here is a brief description of the Storyvalues Interactive program:· The TDSB Storyvalues Interactive site (www.svtdsb.com) features 40 classic myths and folktales as a foundation for literacy, social emotional learning, equity / diversity, music, art and an array of curricular areas of study. · Each of the 40 stories appear in recorded form, with narration enhanced by culturally accurate music and read-along text; perfect for active listening and creative visualization. Written versions are provided as well.· 20 of the stories feature richly designed interactive web pages with videos, audio files, samples of world music and art, allowing students to interact with a diverse world of shared artistic and literary traditions. The remaining 20 stories are presented as audio recordings with read along text and classroom follow up materials.· Extensive story-based classroom follow up discussion and activity suggestions emphasize cooperative learning, creative problem solving and inclusive community building. The school material features an index with grade specific curriculum connections.· Together with the home access component, Storyvalues Interactive is designed to help facilitate parental involvement in school literacy and community building initiatives. We will be sending monthly newsletters with tips on how to best use Storyvalues at school and home, story recommendations for special holidays or observances and featured school projects. We hope you will enjoy using Storyvalues Interactive in your school this year.
